Pattaya nightlife: where to go in the evening and where to live for a good night39;s sleep
Pattaya is known as the city that never sleeps, and that is only half true. You can spend an evening at a night market with the kids, listen to live music, watch the lights of the bay from a skyscraper rooftop, then go home to a quiet district where all you hear is the sea. Here is where everything is and how to choose a home so the nightlife does not keep you awake.

In short
- The main evening street is Walking Street in the south of the centre, closed to cars in the evening.
- For a relaxed evening: the Jomtien and Thepprasit night markets, rooftop bars, the promenade and Pratumnak sunsets.
- Quiet areas to live: Pratumnak, Wongamat, Na Jomtien, southern Jomtien and East Pattaya.
An evening for everyone
Evening Pattaya is not just about clubs. Here is what everyone enjoys, from families to winter visitors:
- Night markets. Jomtien Night Market across the road from the beach is open every evening: grills, seafood, fresh juices and a playground. Thepprasit Night Market is in full swing from Friday to Sunday, with a huge food court. More in Pattaya beaches.
- Sunset on Pratumnak. The viewpoint and the cafés above Cozy Beach overlooking Koh Larn; see Things to see in Pattaya.
- The Pattaya Beach promenade in the evening: a seaside walk, street food and the lights of the bay.
- Rooftop bars. For example Horizon on the 34th floor of the Hilton, with a view of the whole bay. Such places usually have a smart casual dress code; check opening hours on the venue's website.
- Live music. Tree Town on Soi Buakhao: a block of small bars, food and stages with live bands.

Walking Street
Pattaya's most famous evening street, in the south of the centre, from Beach Road to Bali Hai pier. In the evening and until late at night it is pedestrian-only. There are clubs with DJs, bars with live music, street performers and lots of light. The atmosphere is adult, but an early-evening stroll to see the lights and walk to the pier is interesting even with teenagers.
In 2026 the tourist police stepped up order on the street: patrols, a mobile command post and strict rules for venue security staff.
Rules worth knowing
- Age. You can buy and drink alcohol in Thailand from age 20.
- When alcohol is sold. The afternoon restriction from 14:00 to 17:00 was first lifted on a trial basis in December 2025, and since 29 May 2026, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, alcohol is sold from 11:00 to midnight without a break. Bars in entertainment zones have their own hours.
- Bar closing times. Since December 2023 venues in Pattaya's entertainment zone may open until 4:00, others until 2:00.
- Buddhist holidays. Alcohol sales are banned for 24 hours on these days, with exceptions for hotels and airports. Dates are in Pattaya weather and festivals by month.
Where it is noisy and where it is quiet
Noisiest at night:
- the centre between Second Road and Beach Road;
- Walking Street and the streets around it;
- Soi Buakhao and nearby;
- Third Road, with occasional open-air concerts;
- some stretches of Jomtien near bars.
Quietest:
- Pratumnak: a green hill with residential condos and hotels, almost silent in the evening. More in Pratumnak.
- Wongamat: the north of the city, seaside towers without bars below.
- Na Jomtien and southern Jomtien: space and calm evenings.
- East Pattaya: housing estates far from the entertainment streets.

How to choose a quiet condo
- Visit on a Friday evening
That is when you hear whether there is a bar or music venue nearby.
- Check where the windows face
Windows onto the courtyard or the sea are quieter than onto a bar street.
- Do not rely on a high floor alone
Bass can sometimes be heard high up.
- Ask the management company
They know if there have been complaints about nearby venues.
If noise is a problem, you can complain to the Pattaya City hotline on 1337.
